PHILIPS TO DEMONSTRATE TV RECEPTION USING MINIATURIZED TELEVISION RECEIVER MODULES FOR PORTABLE MULTIMEDIA AND CONSUMER ELECTRONICS APPLICATIONS
Royal Philips Electronics showcases its highly integrated and miniaturized Radio Frequency (RF) modules enabling television functionality in portable multimedia and consumer electronics applications such as laptops/notebooks and DVD player
s/display devices.
Philips will demonstrate its new Mini PCI DVB-T receiver module as well as a reference design of an analog PCMCIA TV card. With these modules Philips offers the enabling technology to have TV reception anywhere and anytime in areas where analog or digital terrestrial signals are available.
The Mini PCI DVB-T receiver module is designed as complete embedded module for laptops/notebooks. For other portable applications like DVD player and display devices such as web tablets that need an MPEG input Philips provides its new DVB-T Network Interface Module (NIM).
Philips is also demonstrating analog TV reception with an in-house design analog PCMCIA TV card that is based on the new Philips miniaturized multimedia front-end. This prototype can be used in laptops and desktop PCs that have a PCMCIA slot.
Due to the small form factor these modules are ideal for devices with limited space. Accepting broadcast signals and providing video and audio, they present a great number of information, like teletext functionality, as well as entertainment possibilities for portable multimedia devices.
The DVB-T NIM, Mini PCI DVB-T receiver and analog PCMCIA TV card modules will be ready for market int
