DE6491: The CMX649 ADM and PCM Voice Codec IC Demonstration
Get a head-start in the design-in of a CMX649-based radio end-product. Add an inexpensive secure cordless voice function to your existing audio products. Evaluate and experiment with cordless voice applications using CML's CMX649 low-power Voice Codec IC - these are just a few of the prospects offered by the DE6491 Wireless Voice Link Demonstration Kit recently released by CML Microcircuits. This PC
B-based kit provides instant evaluation, design and operational access to designers of radio-voice products using CML's latest low-power CMX649 audio codec IC.
Operating as a short-range device in the 863 to 865 MHz European licence-exempt band, this DemoKit consists of two separate stand-alone PCBs each with a CMX649-based audio stage, an RF transceiver stage and a controlling μProcessor. The basic design will support other frequency ranges. The PCBs are designed to work in an interactive master/slave relationship over a range of about twenty metres; facilities are provided to investigate lower power/range settings. Using the supplied headsets, each with an integral microphone and earpiece, the user can investigate, in real time, the two-way voice-audio transfer between units. This demonstration exhibits the high quality voice capabilities of the CMX649 Codec IC.
